FAQ - WEB AND EMAIL HOSTING
Web Hosting
Web hosting allows someone with a domain name to place their website on the internet (or world wide web). At xman online we offer 3 different web hosting packages.
Why should I choose a xman online web hosting package?
Because our packages are not only feature packed, but our prices are more competitively priced than the other providers.
Do I receive email facilities with web hosting?
Absolutely. You get all the features of Email Hosting and more. The number of email addresses that you can have with our Web Hosting Packages is listed here.
Are there any hidden fees or costs added to the advertised price?
No. The price you see is the ONLY price you pay for the term shown. This is unlike many other providers who addon other costs to their base price.
My website is already hosted by someone else.
Transferring hosting of your website and email from another provider to xman online couldn't be any easier. To do so, please sign up for a web hosting account here, and then we will take it from there.
Will my website suffer any downtime if I transfer from my current host to xman online?
Absolutely not. Your website will stay live during the entire transfer process.
Where are xman online's servers located?
We utilise a number of servers, located within Australia and the United States. More information on these can be found here.
My website appears down. How can I best diagnose the issue?
Please follow these steps in sequential order:
STEP 1: Is your domain currently registered and active?
You can test this by entering your domain name here.
If it responds by saying "domain.com is available for registration", your domain has either expired, or it is not registered. Your domain will need to be registered for your website to work. To register your domain, please go here.
If it responds by saying "Sorry but domain.com is already registered", click on the link below it, and make sure that it's expiry date has not passed.
If your domain is registered and active, please go to Step 2
STEP 2: Is your internet working properly?
You can test this by going the testing site here, and entering in the domain name for the site that cannot be reached in a browser (ie. xmanonline.com.au).
If it responds by saying "It's just you. 'DomainName.com' is up', your internet is the issue.
If it responds by saying "Huh? doesn't look like a site ...", please go to step 3
STEP 3: Check server uptime status
You can check our server uptime status here.
If the server which corresponds to your site is down, then that is the reason why your site is not working. It will probably be only a short period of time until it is back up.
If the server status is OK, and you still cannot access your site, please go to step 4.
STEP 4: Send us some information that will help us to sort out your problem quickly
Please send us an email support@xmanonline.com.au here containing the following information:
- The IP address of your computer (please go here to find out your IP address).
- Within your computer's desktop, go to Start --> Run --> Type in 'cmd' (without the inverted commas, then press enter).
i. Type in: tracert domain.com (replacing domain.com with your domain name) and press enter
ii. Type in nslookup domain.com (replacing domain.com with your domain name) and press enter and take a screenshot of this (press the Prnt Scrn button on your computer - usually to the right of F12). Open up a Word doc and paste the screenshot. Save the doc, and send it as an attachment with your IP address to the email address support@xmanonline.com.au here
We should then be able to diagnose the issue easily for you.
Email Hosting
Email Hosting allows you to have your very own personalised email accounts in the form of: yourname@yourdomain.com where "yourdomain" is the domain that you have registered. If you don't have a domain registered, you can do so by clicking here.
Why should I purchase an Email Hosting Account ?
A personalised email address is essential for any business in presenting a professional image to potential clients.
For example, if your name is Bill and your business is called Great Services, then bill@greatservices.com gives an impression of professionalism and legitimacy, whereas bill3546@hotmail.com does not.
Which Email Hosting Package should I choose ?
- Our Bronze Email Hosting Package is perfect for the home user. It comes with 5 email addresses.
- The Silver Email Hosting Package is designed for either a group of people or a business. It comes with 30 email addresses.
- Our Gold Email Hosting Package is for your business, large or small. It comes with 50 email addresses.
We are pretty confident that one of these will meet your needs, however if you were after a more customised package, drop us a line at support@xmanonline.com.au support@xmanonline.com.au and I'm sure we will be able to find a solution for you.
What if I reach the maximum available space on my mailbox ?
Your mailbox storage space refers to emails stored on our server. However, when you use an email client like Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, these download your emails from our servers onto your computer, therefore are not taking up server space. The instance where your mailbox might get close to full is when you are solely using Webmail to check your email and then not deleting them. Simply delete your old emails and you'll be fine.
If this still doesn't help your situation, we can easily upgrade your account for you if you like.
Can I transfer my existing Email Hosting over to xman online ?
Absolutely. It is a painless process, and you won't lose any emails stored on your computer, or sent to you during the short transfer time.
My email appears down for me. How can I diagnose the issue?
Please follow these steps in sequential order:
STEP 1: Check if the problem is with the xmanonline server
Are you able to check you email via webmail? To do this, go to our Home page, and enter your details under the menu 'Webmail Login'
IF YES, email is therefore functioning correctly at our end. You will need to check your settings in Outlook/Outlook Express from our initial email to you. If you are still unsure, please take a screenshot of your settings (press the screenshot button on your computer - usually to the right of F12). Open up a Word doc and paste the screenshot. Save the doc, and send it as an attachment to us support@xmanonline.com.au here, and we will be able to assist you as quickly as possible.
IF NO, you may have an incorrect password. Feel free to email us support@xmanonline.com.au here, and we can reset your password for you.
IF NO (even with a new password), please go to step 2.
STEP 2. Is your domain currently registered and active?
You can test this by entering in your domain name here.
If it responds by saying "domain.com is available for registration", your domain has either expired, or it is not registered. Your domain will need to be registered for your website to work. To register your domain, please go here.

If it responds by saying "It's just you. 'DomainName.com' is up', your internet is the issue.
If it responds by saying "Huh? doesn't look like a site ...", please go to step 4.
STEP 4: Check server uptime status
You can check our server uptime status here.
If the server which corresponds to your email is down, then that is the reason why your site is not working. It will probably be only a short period of time until it is back up.
If the server status is OK, and you still cannot access your email, please go to step 5.
STEP 5: Send us some information that will help us to sort out your problem quickly
Please send us an email support@xmanonline.com.au here containing the following information:

How do I get my website to be viewable on the internet?
Once you have purchased a web hosting package, we will email you the ftp settings related to your new account. You will need to use these settings with the FTP program of you choice to upload your website to our server. Please view the tutorials in the Support section of our website for step-by-step documentation for more information on this.
How do I get my email working with xman online?
You will receive easy to follow instructions via email from us with either a web or email hosting package, which will also contain links to our online tutorials when you sign up with one of our packages. If at any time you need any extra assistance, you can feel free to contact us here.
What are the nameservers for my hosting account ?
We use a number of nameservers from a variety of server locations. Please email us if you would like to know the nameservers associated with your account.
I have uploaded my website with the FTP settings, however I still can't see my site on the internet?
If you have registered your domain name with a competitor, you will need to contact them to change the nameservers associated with your account. Please contact us and we will notify you of the nameservers associated with your hosting account.
If you registered the domain name with us, we will complete the changes on your behalf.
I have changed the nameservers and used the FTP settings, but I still can't see my site on the internet.
A process of DNS Propagation, which can take up to 48 hours (usually a lot less) for any nameserver change, is required to occur before you can view your site in a web browser (ie. Internet Explorer).
Once this has occurred, you and everyone else will be able to view your website on the world wide web.
I am trying to log into webmail, however it is asking for my details twice?
You will need to enable cookies in your browser. To do so, please following the tutorial here.
